Whichwhat - Whichwhat's First (1969-70 uk, fantastic psychedelic soulful blues rock with jazz elements, 2010 Flawed Gems bonus tracks remaster issue)

Formed in 1968,Whichwhat joined the vibrant 60's Nottingham music scene at a time when every pub and club had live music. They were soon established amongst the elite bands of that period : Sons and Lovers, Six Across, etc. and within 5 months achieved a recording contract on Beacon Records.

Between 1968 and 1971 Whichwhat released 5 singles and one LP. (whichwhat's first). They achieved chart success in Holland, Australia   and Japan with these songs :- "Gimme Gimme Good Lovin" ,  "In the year 2525", and " Why do lovers break  each  others heart". Before their eventual demise Whichwhat went through a series of personnel changes, and turned from a great cover band into a serious progressive rock outfit.

  2. Yep! I listened to it many times, but in a low quality mp3
What was my joy when a friend of mine recently sent me it to my mailbox! ... (Thx Laurent!)
It basically a hard rock band, this album featured some belting sax, though with some quieter flute-filled moments. They come from Nottingham and were popular abroad, more so than at home. This was recorded in 1969, though released the following year. Beacon Records BEAS 14 (1970, UK)

This excellent and diverse album was unfortunately the only one work this British formations which included, among others a man named Steve Harris – earlier the brilliant drummer the formation Woody Kern!
As for the music, then surely the fans Jethro Tull, Traffic, Family and Woody Kern said will be truly happy! Some of the recordings (eg, Early Morning (Late At Night) or Shame And Solution) it authentic, rock pearls, the rest of the little them gave way to(well, except poor Vietnam Rose – composed by former musicians of The Easybeats). This is an absolute must for all fans of rock music from the years 1969-1970.
The team disbanded in 1970, but met again in 1971 to record the theme of The Wind Out Of Nowhere (Wind from Nowhere), which later surfaced on Incredible Sound Show Stories Vol.2. The former lead singer Eddy Young is now living in Melbourne, Australia.

Marios, not least thank you for putting it Your blog! .... You're doing a great job!
btw:Great excitement and a great dramaturgy in the inauguration of the Euro 2012!
Mood swings in the opening match Poland - Greece 1:1
