Belle Gonzalez is an Italian-born jazz and folk singer of Polish, Filipino, Spanish and Chinese descent. Having grown up in Italy and Belgium she moved to the United Kingdom. Belle’s singing career really began in 1950 in the Philippines. She was successful and travelled to Okinawa, Bangkok, then Singapore, where she met the Englishman who was to become her husband and moved to the United Kingdom with him.
A talented singer known for her soulful vocals and captivating performances. With her dynamic stage presence and heartfelt delivery, she creates a memorable musical experience. Acoustic guitars, warm melodies and reflective lyrics create an intimate atmosphere, while subtle arrangements add a dreamy, almost pastoral character. The result is a deeply personal album that captures the introspective spirit of the era while maintaining a timeless melodic charm.
"Belle' was rleased in 1972 and long out of reach, Belle Gonzalez's only album is one of those rare records that feels like a secret passed from hand to hand. Her voice is gentle yet full of presence, carrying songs that drift between British folk and the soft sway of Brazilian rhythms. It's music that feels both of its time and strangely timeless, the kind of record you play once and then can't forget. After decades in obscurity, Belle finally returns to be heard the way it always should have been.
