  2. I downloaded this a few years ago from one of the many blogs found on the net. I believe this may indeed be THE first band to name themselves "Utopia"...I can think of a few others :)
I did not find much information about this American band from California who released this one album in 1969 ... producend by Robert Duffley & Keith Gravenhorst. The credits on the Akarma CD reissue mention Fizz Mestger - piano and to very special thanks Clark Faville great friend and one of biggest record collectors in the world. In an album where there are no fillers, the disc alternates between tracks blues good quality and other tracks that are more drawn to the Psycho Rock, especially the first track (best version classic I Just Want To Make Love to You), the beautiful track 2 (Me), and the electric age 6 (Working Man)!
This is awesome, and very heavy for 1969, amazing. If you dig the likes of Blue Cheer and Leaf Hound, and later, Masters of Reality and Thee Hypnotics, you are in for a treat here

  4. I grew up with Danny McBride and these guys...still see them when we can get them to jam from time to time. This was indeed NOT 1967... It was 69-74 and then they all moved on to other bands. Danny went to the club circuit and continues to play in a Led Zeppelin tribute band. Geno has his own gig with his wife. Harry is still around and still awesome. Haven't seen Frank and Dennis in years, but I hear through the grapevine that music is over for Dennis...sad...one of the best voices of his day.

  5. Went to grade (Danbrook Elementary) and High school (Western High / Anaheim, Ca.) with Danny. Always knew he had a talent for the hard and classic rock beat - fusion with Bozo Bonham and Charlie Watts. Nice to see he continues to follow his dream - Rock on !
