rep>>> Redbone - Beaded Dreams Through Turquoise Eyes (1974-75 us, pleasant blue eyed soul with funky and roots 'n' roll tones, 2013 expanded reissue)

A blend of contrasts highlights this fine record, from a group that seems equally at home with hard rockers, what used to be called "blue eyed soul" or wekk handled ballads. Adept at using a single lead voice with backup chorus or working with harmony.

Redbone have put together an exceptionally comercial set here with virtually every cut showing single possibility. Use of strings aids rather thatm hinders the material on the few cuts where they offered and the production of Pat and Lolly Vegas is superb.

  1. THANX!!!

Oh this is GREAT! I just started to get in to these guys (since I'm 1/8 Wemotaci) and I dig 'em! It's kinda Jazzy, Doobs/Boz kinda sound... and the Singer sounds a little like Boz Scaggs.

I managed to find the first Five (5) albums but I was missing this one, Cycles and Peace Pipe... and the 1966, Pat & Lolly Vegas - At The Haunted House.

    Anyone have these???

  4. Hi!

Thanx for this one. A bit more background of Redbone:

"American rock band formed in 1969 in Los Angeles, California by brothers Pat Vegas and Lolly Vegas. The brothers were originally from Fresno, CA.

The name Redbone is a joking reference to a Cajun term for a mixed-race person, the band's members being a mixture of Native American and Mexican heritage.

Redbone played primarily rock music with R&B, Cajun, Jazz, tribal, and Latin roots. Their first commercial success came with the single "Maggie" from their second album, Potlatch, in 1970, and two other hit singles followed - "The Witch Queen of New Orleans" (1971, #21 on the Billboard Hot 100) and "Come and Get Your Love" (1974, #5 on the Billboard Hot 100). "Come and Get Your Love", written by Lolly Vasquez stayed in the Billboard chart for 24 weeks, and was awarded a gold disc by the R.I.A.A. on 22 April 1974."

    Cheers!
    Ciao! For now.
